Drugstore Halloween Part 1: Wet n Wild Poison Ivy and Lethal Injection

Hey everybody!  There's something about a drugstore to which I am magnetically drawn.  I don't know what it is.  When my sister and I were teenagers, we went to the drugstore every single Sunday afternoon.  We loved to look at all the new makeup and perfume displays and buy candy.  So as a result, we ended up being two chubby tarts who wore lots of Malibu Musk. :D

I still love to look at all the new drugstore makeup displays.  Last weekend, I was in Walgreens and saw a really big Fantasy Makers Halloween display...it had apparently just been put out, because I made the first purchase from it.  It was stocked with the trademark Fantasy Makers false eyelashes, eyeshadow palettes, and everything else, including nail polish.  I picked up a couple of the Wet n Wild Megalast polishes.  I believe the Halloween polishes are re-releases, but I didn't have any of them.  And they were only $1.99, you know?

First up I have Poison Ivy, a metallic green shimmer.

Poison Ivy is a deep, slightly blackened hunter green.  Strangely enough, I don't have another green this color in my collection.

I applied two coats of Poison Ivy for the photos.  The Megalast brush is called a "Manicurve Pro Brush", which means a wide, paddle style.  That is always problematic for me since I have such tiny nails, so I had to be really careful.  I experienced a bit of dragging, but of course, it looks worse here than in real life. :)

Poison Ivy is a great green, both for Halloween and for autumn.  The photos show a warmer side to the color, but in real life, it leans a touch more blue.

I gave my sweet husband Brian the task of choosing my other Wet n Wild polish, and I think he did a great job.  The name is great...Lethal Injection.  Oh my.

The color of Lethal Injection reminds me of OPI Diva of Geneva, only Lethal Injection's shimmer is silver and not gold.  Again, in real life, this color is a bit different...it's more oxblood than wine.  Maybe Wet n Wild polishes like to keep you guessing? ;)

I experienced dragging again with my two coats, but it all looks fine in real life.  My biggest problem was how much of a mess it made my cuticles! :/

Lethal Injection isn't an unusual color, but if you are in the mood for a deep, vampy shade for very little money, this will do nicely for you.

Quoth the Raven, "Lethal Injection!"  no...wait...

Have you gotten any Halloween drugstore offerings this October?  I always wish I had a place to wear all those great false eyelashes...*sigh*.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a lovely day! :)

  1. They rereleased Pick Your Poison? That's awesome!! I tracked these all over town one afternoon last year and was fortunate to find the blue one but I missed out on Poison Ivy. I'll be making a trip to Walgreens today, then. Oh, how exciting :) I'm not a big fan of the WnW brush because they sits always have wayward bristles, but they do fit my nails nicely. Brian did a good job-- Lethal Injection is gorgeous on you! And I love the shot with the raven on the bust of-- uhhh that spooky pumpkin. XD

    1. Yes...that was the original name! I remember now. :D Oh, I hope you found it! It's really a very lovely green...sort of reminds me of they way hunter green velvet looks. And Brian decided between between Lethal Injection and the purple one...he's getting quite good at this. ;) Ah the spooky raven pumpkin...I need to send you pics of my sister's house at Halloween...all my spooky props are hers, and she decorates like you've just about never seen.

    1. LOL...I have to say, Malibu Musk was a good-smelling drugstore perfume in the 80's. We hung in there with than and Exclamation...remember that one??

  3. These are VERY VERY purty!! I love both of them on you and your fabulously long "talons." - and I mean that in a good way, I assure you!! ;)
Hm I can tell ya, I've seen PLENTY of poison ivy in my 27 & 3/4 yrs and never have I seen any that looks that pretty! My only question: did it give you a red, itchy rash? :P lol Do you guys have poison ivy down there???
As usual, I have a favorite line from the post: "Quoth the raven, 'Lethal Injection!' No, wait..." teeheehee!! :D You're a comedic genius!

    1. Thanks sweetie! My talons liked them both as well. :P Yeah, I doubt the real poison ivy looks that fetching, especially on somebody's hands!! We do have it here, but we also have poison oak. My sister was clearing out a bunch of back yard "weeds" once...it turned out to be poison oak, and the poor thing had to seek medical attention...the doctor said he'd never seen a case that bad before.

Wasn't that the line in The Raven?? :P

    2. Yeah, the real poison ivy rash does not look fetching at all! We have poison oak here as well. Ugh so sorry to hear your sis had a really bad run-in with it!! That sounds like torture. My mom was violently allergic to poison ivy...like she had to get some sort of shot every year to prevent a horrible reaction. Thankfully, we took after our dad and got his ivy resistant genes! :D

Hehe, why YES, of course! *wink wink

    1. Thanks Yun...I agree. I don't have many true greens in my collection, but they are awful nice, aren't they? :)

  5. Both are really pretty, Lethal Injection is my favorite! I wish wet n wild would make their brushes half the current size, I have the same problem but do like the curved shape at the end.

    1. The curved shape is nice, but it's still way too wide for Little Miss Tiny Nails here, LOL. There were some really nice colors in the Fantasy Makers stuff! :)

  6. Hi Melissa, both of them are soooo beautiful - I love those blackened greens - they get something so mysterious and haunting!!! And well you know how much I llove those vampy shades!!!! Our local drugstore took in Revlon when I was about 12 and I remember I was poised in awe in front of it and started saving my pocket Money to buy my first nailpolish - and you know what? It was a dark, vampy red ;-)!!!! But then Mary Quant came along and a new addiction was born ;-) xxx
