Sally Hansen Triple Shine, Chapter 2

Hey everybody!  I hope this week is going well for you. :)  My sister Melanie and I recently won a fantastic prize of 16 Sally Hansen Triple Shines in a photography contest, and I have some to show you today.  I've already posted about Red Snapper and Wavy Blue, so today's post is a continuation.  And now that I have so many, I'll probably continue even more. :P

Let's dive right into it, shall we?  What an awesome segue...first off I have Dive In!

Ahhhhh, isn't it lovely??  Dive In is a turquoise blue cream that is probably my favorite of all the Triple Shines.  It's just so happy.  And for all you girls who just LOVE the arrival of spring, this is definitely a springy polish.  I am still a bit surprised that I don't have this color already, but I don't.  I used two coats of Dive In.

Next I have Kelp Out, which is a medium green crelly.  This is a really nice color that I could have posted about in my grassy green comparison if I hadn't wanted to keep my Triple Shines separate.  The formula was easy to work with but a little thin for my desire to avoid Mr. VaNeLi, so I used three coats.

And in case you were wondering, Kelp Out is quite the shiny little number.  And I know my coloring looks a little strange(r) in these pics, but I wanted to capture Kelp Out correctly. :)

There are several glitter toppers in the Triple Shine line.  I layered Sparks Fly, a silver/blue glitter combo, over Kelp Out...and I'm kinda loving this look.  It's like Swamp Thing goes to Vegas.  This is one coat of Sparks Fly, and the formula was very good on this one.

And if Dive In is my favorite Triple Shine, Flame On has got to be a *very* close second.

Flame On is a BEAUTEOUS hot pink metallic with a subtle shimmer.  And it looks just like shiny vinyl on the nail!  Seriously...you see a teensy weensy bit of brushtroke stuff in the pics, but you cannot see any in real life.  It's just like you wrapped your nails in plastic.  LOVE!!  I used three coats of Flame On for opacity.

I love the application and colors of Triple Shines, but I have the same problem will all of them:  inordinate tip wear.  I don't get it.  Have you all tried any, and what has your experience been with them?  Is it just me having these issues??

Stay tuned for more Triple Shines in all their glory!  Thanks for stopping by, and have a lovely day! :)

Blogger Bud Love!! Hare Polish Pegasus

Hey everybody!  Yes, I have been suspiciously absent over here at the Reverie.  I have been doing some coursework that has left me not a whole lot of time for the blog this week.  Oh, and my cuticles are like an obnoxious CRUST that I shall blame on tax season.  Why not?  Grrrrrr...but I simply HAD to do a post about the lovely present I received from my dear blogging bud Christine of Polished Marvels.  She sent me not one, but TWO of my wish list polishes all the way from Switzerland. <3

Christine gave me a heads up that she was sending a package and had accidentally left out her handwritten note (that she found on her table when she got home from the post office).  She told me that she "tore the note to shreds in despair" when she discovered this, LOLOL!  Well, of course I couldn't wait to see what was in my package, and I was completely surprised to receive Hare Polish Pegasus! <3

Pegasus just looks so fairytale-esque.  It's soft and girly, but it's magically sparkly as well.  Something about this polish brings to mind Medieval jousting tournaments and pennants snapping in the breeze.  And fair ladies wearing braids and conical hennins. :)  What?  Sleeping Beauty was my favorite Disney movie! :P

Pegasus is a grey-lavender crelly loaded in silver glitter of varying sizes.  The glitter is very shiny and reflective.  I used three coats of Pegasus to get complete coverage, and it applied smoothly with no glitter issues...except that whole super-shiny thing. :)  The color is more grey in real life than in the photos.  It's quite unusual and I really love it.

So we have another beauty marked off the wish list, thanks to a very sweet and thoughtful friend.  Oh, and speaking of SWEET, look what else my favorite Swiss Miss included in my package:

Yeah.  Blogging buds are the best. Thanks again, Christine.  And thank you all for stopping by! :)

Sally Hansen Triple Shine: Red Snapper and Wavy Blue

Hey everybody!  How is Monday going for you so far?  Mine is going well, and I'm eating Olive Garden leftovers as I type this, so that makes it even better. :D  Today I am finally posting about a couple of Sally Hansen Triple Shine polishes I purchased a couple of months ago.  I was pretty excited to see the Triple Shine line come out, because there are so many colors and finishes going on there.   And well, everybody loves shiny!  Except for the ones who love matte...then I am afraid I can't help you there...

Guess who picked out Red Snapper for me?  Yes!!  My hubby. :)  A combination of the color and the name of a fish had him sold.

Red Snapper is a warm-toned, VERY bright, orange-red crelly.  It's also more watery than my eyes in a field of ragweed.  I was having trouble with this formula going everywhere. :/  I'd pick up just a little on my brush (or so I thought) and then out of nowhere, this enormous drip would rain down and create a cuticle moat.  But it is very shiny, as you can see! :)  I used 3 coats.

Of course, you all know that if my hubby picked out a red, then I naturally had to go for blue. :)  I chose a beautiful royal blue shimmer called Wavy Blue.

The formula on Wavy Blue was much friendlier to me and my preschool painting skills.  This one refused to mess up, which I loved.  The shimmer in this one is really outstanding.  I used 3 coats, but as you can see, I still have Mr. VaNeLi stalking me.  Blast.

Something I have noticed about the Triple Shine line is that though they are very shiny (like the name suggests!), they are prone to more-than-usual tip wear.  I have been wearing Wavy Blue for about 20 hours, during which 7 of them I was sleeping, and I have tip wear on every finger. :(  I wonder why that is...

Do you have any of the Triple Shines, and if so, what do you think about them?

My leftovers are now finished, as is my review.  Thanks for reading, and have a lovely day! <3

What a Surprise! Hare Polish Hooky at the Hamlet

Hey everybody!  You know something?  Blogging buds are the best!  I have a modest little wishlist on here, and my sweet friend Emily from Em's Polish Paradise noticed that I was craving a certain polish that she happened to have...so she sent it to me, all the way from Australia. <3

I've had my eye on Hooky at the Hamlet by Hare Polish ever since it came out, but due to some reason or another (out of stock, bleeding bank account, allergies), I never picked it up.  So, I got home from work, the night before my birthday (!!!), and there it was, in all its strangely-hued glory...

The legends are true.  This color of this polish is nearly impossible to capture correctly.  The top picture comes the closest...I know my skin looks a bit more anemic than usual, but I at least wanted you to see what the color looked like.  Hooky at the Hamlet comes from the 2013 Last Queen of France collection.

After careful consideration and much ogling, I would have to describe Hooky at the Hamlet as 50/50 green and blue.  There are small and medium white hexes, with some little white squares as well.  There is also a blue shimmer that's quite pretty.  I've read that this polish is a jelly, but it seemed like a crelly to me, and it dries sort of matte.  I'm just full of nailed-down details today! :D  I used 3 thin coats with 2 coats of top coat...just because I like shiny things. :)

What do you think of this crazy color?  The combination of the unique color, problem-free formula, and the BUNNY make Hooky at the Hamlet a total winner!  Hare Polish can be purchased on Etsy.

And the only thing better than scratching another one off the ol' wishlist is the feeling you get when a friend gives it to you. <3  Thank you again, Emily! :)

Thanks for stopping by, and have a lovely day!

Sinful Colors Yes Officer (and lots of Halloween Pics!)

Hey everybody!  Are you having a fantastic Saturday? :)

Okay, I'm going to go ahead and admit it...I have officially morphed into a Sinful Colors addict.  It happened so quickly.  I never knew what hit me.  Was it the $ 1.99 price point?  The huge selection of interesting colors?  Well, I know what did it for me this time:  it was the NAME.  I bought this polish because I read the name and laughed out loud...in Wal-Mart.  Yes Officer.

YES OFFICER!!  That still makes me laugh.  Is it just me, or it that hilarious?  Hahahahaha!!!  Yes Officer is one of the new SC polishes for fall from their espionage-themed line (like Classified).  So yes, I bought this polish for the name.  BUT the fact that I didn't have another blue like this one didn't hurt. :)

Yes Officer is a peculiar little number.  In photos, and outside in sunlight, it looks like a really bright and rather Smurfy blue.  But indoors, it looks almost teal.  I don't think I ever saw a polish change so much going from inside to outside.  And of course, all attempts at capturing the indoor teal look have failed.  You'll just have to trust me on this one.

Well, at least I know this:  whatever lighting you're in, Yes Officer is a lovely color and a very autumnal, *slightly* dusty blue.  The formula seems to be more like a crelly than a creme.  I used two coats for photos and still had a bit a patchiness, so next time I will use three.  The only bad part about Yes Officer is that it did an illegal amount of flooding... just be careful of that.  Yes Officer just might cause you to be arrested and dragged off in chains for looking so fabulous!

And...as promised...I have some of this year's Halloween pics I thought I'd share with you! :)  My baby Angelo as a rootin-tootin' cowboy:

And Nicolo as a (depressed) jester:

My sister Melanie and brother-in-law Chris do Halloween like nobody else.  They have a 3-story house that seems to have been intentionally designed to look spooky...we have nicknamed the house the Monster Plantation, a.k.a. Monsta P (Chris even created a Facebook page for it).  Mel and Chris decorate the Monster Plantation from the bottom all the way to the top.

Here are me and Mel as cracked dolls...hey, check me out as a redhead Bratz, LOL! :D

My brother-in-law Chris as a ventriloquist's dummy:

Me, Mel, and Penny the zombie girl in the graveyard:

And photos of the Monster Plantation in all its spooky glory...

The Monster Plantation!

I HATE this guy.

Quoth the ravens...

Yes, Penny's eyes glow.  And she swings by herself and sings.

Well, if you've read this post all the way through, I am impressed!! :)  Thanks for stopping by, and have a lovely day!

A Week of Falls with Pretty Jelly: London Bridge

Hey everybody!  Today I have another famous fall courtesy of Pretty Jelly!  And guess what's falling down today?  Why, it's London Bridge, my fair ladies! ;)

London Bridge is, of course, a very old nursery rhyme/game that everybody has played as a child.  I say everybody...but these days, I don't know...is there an app for that? :/  Pretty Jelly's London Bridge is an homage to that structure that has had many incarnations, and according to the song, always seems to be in need of repair!

As you can see, there is nothing in need of repair here!  London Bridge is a pale grey crelly with small and medium gold hex glitter, gold holo glitter, and a ton of gold and pale blue shimmer.  I know I'm sounding like a broken record here, but I love this polish!  What seems like such a simple combination is so very elegant.

Isn't this beautiful?  London Bridge is another one of those polishes that gives me a clear mental image...it looks like sunlight peeking through the London fog.  London Bridge is a bit sheer, although you could probably reach opacity on its own with 3 coats.  But because my visible nail line is SO visible, I layered London Bridge over Zoya Kendal, which I've discovered will pretty much morph into whatever color I tell it to.  The result was exceptionally lovely, as the very slight lavender of Kendal looked wonderful with the grey crelly base of London Bridge.

CAUTION:  FOOD ANALOGY AHEAD

As I was admiring my polish on the drive into work, I realized that London Bridge made me feel inexplicably warm and toasty, and not just because it's 85 degrees right now...rather, it was a nostalgic kinda warm that probably involved food.  Then it hit me...London Bridge reminds me of my Mom's homeade oyster stew, with the creamy, milky base and the little drops of butter floating to the top...mmmmmmm...

Or maybe we all just need a spot of English tea.

What do you think of London Bridge?  It's another amazing "fall" from the Pretty Jelly Fall Collection.  You can purchase London Bridge and other Pretty Jelly polishes from Etsy, Mei Mei's Signatures, and Edgy Polish.  Pretty Jelly polishes are 5-free and cruelty-free.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a lovely day!

Am I Dreaming? Pipe Dream Polish Pink Elephants and Lemonade

Hey everybody!  I hope you all have been doing well.  I've been out of town for a few days, but I'm back now.  I've got a really adorable polish to show you today by a relatively new indie label called Pipe Dream Polish.  Creator April has made some very interesting and beautiful polishes, and this one just stood out immediately to me:  Pink Elephants and Lemonade. :)

Pipe Dream Polish Pink Elephants and Lemonade

Isn't this polish pretty?  It's described as "medium and small hot pink and deep yellow matte glitters in a dusty turquoise crelly base."  I have to admit, I bought this because I was so curious as to how it would look in person.  It's an unusual look that works.

Pipe Dream Polish Pink Elephants and Lemonade

Pink Elephants and Lemonade's name is taken from a Madonna song called Dear Jessie.  I have no idea what that song is...you mean Madonna made something after Material Girl?? :P  Personally, it brings to mind the song from Dumbo called Pink Elephants on Parade...you remember, the creepy sequence where it looked like Dumbo and Timothy Mouse were completely toasted?

Pink Elephants and Lemonade applied like a dream.  And not a pipe dream either...a real dream! :)  I used 3 coats for the photos, but you could use 2 if you so desired.  And there was ZERO cleanup.  I so love that in a polish...

He's almost pink!! :)

You can purchase Pink Elephants and Lemonade and other Pipe Dream Polish creations on Etsy.  Check them out...April has some really pretty things on sale right now! :)

I wanted to feature this sweet and fun polish because I want to show you why I haven't posted for a week...I've been adjusting to life with my new babies!  Meet Angelo and Nicolo...

I've made no secret about being brokenhearted over the death of my dog Sebastian.  One of the reasons I started my blog was to take my mind off losing him.  These little brothers came at just the right time.  I traveled to North Carolina over the weekend to pick them up...and they really are as sweet as they look. ;)

Thanks for stopping by, and have a lovely evening!

Respectably Flashy: Hare Polish Return to Nature

Hey everybody!  Have you ever found yourself, all of a sudden, being drawn to a polish color that never appealed to you in the past?  That's where I am right now.  My favorite polishes are dark, vampy colors and bold stuff with full-bodied flavor.  But out of nowhere, I have been going nuts over pastels and neutrals.  I don't get it.  Must be a hormone thing.  Anyway, as long as I'm wearing things atypical to me, it sure doesn't hurt when the polish is as lovely as this one...Hare Polish Return to Nature, from The Last Queen of France 2013 Spring Collection.

Hare Polish Return to Nature

Return to Nature is a beige-colored crelly (creme/jelly) with square and hex gold and silver glitters.  And I didn't even realize it until I took the bottle shot, but there are white squares in there as well.  Oh, and don't forget the gold shimmer!  Mmmmm...

Return to Nature bottle shot

Return to Nature IS beige, but it is absolutely taupe under fluorescent lighting.  I like to point out these lighting differences because I work under fluorescent lighting, and I have gotten to the office before and noticed that my polish was way different than it looked at home.  And that *really* irks me when I'm trying to match my clothes! :)

Return to Nature is probably not the best color for my nearly colorless skin, but I think it's such an attractive polish that I don't mind the fact that it's not my usual bold blend.  This color would look beautiful against darker skin.  I used 3 coats by itself for the photos and got full coverage.  The application was great.

So, do you think Marie Antoinette liked neutrals too?

This was my first Hare Polish, and I really love it!  Return to Nature has the flash of glitter whilst being a very respectable and office-friendly color.  Just think of the whole look as amped up mannequin hands. :)

What do you think of Return to Nature?  Do you love the Hare Polish bunny bottles?  And most importantly, do you think I need some sort of dietary supplement for loving neutrals all of a sudden?

Hare Polish can be purchased at their Etsy store.

Thanks for stopping by and have a lovely Friday! :) Follow my blog with Bloglovin
