Hey everybody! You know something? Blogging buds are the best! I have a modest little wishlist on here, and my sweet friend Emily from Em's Polish Paradise noticed that I was craving a certain polish that she happened to have...so she sent it to me, all the way from Australia. <3
I've had my eye on Hooky at the Hamlet by Hare Polish ever since it came out, but due to some reason or another (out of stock, bleeding bank account, allergies), I never picked it up. So, I got home from work, the night before my birthday (!!!), and there it was, in all its strangely-hued glory...
The legends are true. This color of this polish is nearly impossible to capture correctly. The top picture comes the closest...I know my skin looks a bit more anemic than usual, but I at least wanted you to see what the color looked like. Hooky at the Hamlet comes from the 2013 Last Queen of France collection.
After careful consideration and much ogling, I would have to describe Hooky at the Hamlet as 50/50 green and blue. There are small and medium white hexes, with some little white squares as well. There is also a blue shimmer that's quite pretty. I've read that this polish is a jelly, but it seemed like a crelly to me, and it dries sort of matte. I'm just full of nailed-down details today! :D I used 3 thin coats with 2 coats of top coat...just because I like shiny things. :)
What do you think of this crazy color? The combination of the unique color, problem-free formula, and the BUNNY make Hooky at the Hamlet a total winner! Hare Polish can be purchased on Etsy.
And the only thing better than scratching another one off the ol' wishlist is the feeling you get when a friend gives it to you. <3 Thank you again, Emily! :)
Thanks for stopping by, and have a lovely day!

ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet friend!! Hooky at the Hamlet looks like a mermaid polish to me! So pretty and I love that blue shimmer!
ReplyDeleteYes she is a sweet friend. <3 I never even thought about mermaid polish, but somebody else pointed that out, and it makes sense. :)
DeleteGreat shade!!
ReplyDeleteI agree...you certainly don't see it everyday. ;)
DeleteSurprise mail is the best! Especially when said mail is full of 50/50 blue/green glittery goodness! Love it :)
ReplyDeleteIsn't that the truth?! I had the warm fuzzies for days... ;)
DeleteI am so so glad you like it! I was so excited to be able to send you something off your wish list, it made my day! :D Looks great on you too! Such an amazing colour! <3
ReplyDeleteIt really made MY day...I just don't know how you could have parted with it, LOL! The color is so crazy pretty! <3
DeleteAbsolutely gorgeous - and so typical Hare, no? Those inbetween colors are so beautiful! And what a great surprise gift! I like with Hare that their bases usually come as jellies or crellies maximally - it allows a delicacy that more pigment would ruin!
ReplyDeleteTypical Hare *except* for the usual super-chunky glitter...this one didn't dry bumpy. I was very pleased with the not-gritty feel. :)
DeleteThat is really pretty, and the fact that it came from Australia makes it priceless, that was so nice of her! It seems to me like such a happy shade, I love it.
ReplyDeleteIt is a happy shade. Maybe it's because it's the same color as a McDonald's Shamrock Shake!! :D Those make me happy! Yes, I was so excited to get this from Emily. <3
DeleteMORE LEETLE BUNNY!!!! This company had the best logo ever, lol :) ALWAYS shiny. Always. Well, almost. To be continued....
ReplyDeleteThis is a really strange association but believe me when I say it's a good thing-- this color reminds me of my late grandma's house. It's a very cool ambiguously jade/aqua/mint/seafoam/wintergreen/whatever the Sam Hill color it is :)
To be continued?? You have got me curious. :) And I remember those houses that were this color! Aw, so sweet to associate it with your grandmother. <3
ReplyDeleteThis is so cute! I love it. Em has sent me stuff from Australia too. She is so sweet :)
ReplyDeleteI know! She is a sweetie. I told her I was shocked she could part with this. :D
DeleteHehe yes, blogging buds are the best. :D This is so pretty! It's a fantastic combination of glitters, colors, and finish. :)
