Hey everybody! It's been a while since I got all cheap on you, hasn't it? We all spent too much money at Christmas, so we're in the mood for something cheap, right? RIGHT! You might remember that I told you about a store in NC that I love to visit when I'm there that sells perfume, tobacco, and discontinued cosmetics (go ahead and chuckle...it IS rather funny). Well last summer, I had the pleasure of visiting said store...and there is was, bathed in sunbeams...a huge bin of Milani 3D Holographics for $1.50 each. I wiped the drool off my chin and snagged the entire collection! YAY! :)
I won't tire you with loads of pesky details after every picture. Let me just say that the 3D Holographics collection are jellies with a wonderful, mistake-free formula. I used 3 coats of each polish due to my persistent
First up is Digital, a rosy pink.
Next is HD. This polish is silver in the bottle...but see how not-so-silver it is on me? I thought, "Ugh, are my nails THAT discolored?" Of course, they ARE, but it made me wonder why this one looked so gold-ish...well, the blurred bottle shot shows quite a lot of gold holo particles! So it sort of looks in-between gold and silver.
Next is Hi-Res, a medium purple. Looks good enough to eat!!
Now this one is as gold as it gets: 3D. This one looks like liquid gold on the nail.
And I saved my favorite for last...a light blue beauty called Cyberspace. <3 Look at all the colors peeking through in this one...
You may have read about these before...the holo effect is different from other polishes because there is something about the particles that looks slightly irregular, almost like tiny shards. They are like a linear/scattered hybrid, with the linear effect being strongest on Cyberspace and HD. Another bonus is that you don't need sunlight to watch them glow.
I was so pleased with this Cheapskates Files score...not only are these awesome, but they're antiques too...these came out over 4 years ago! :)
I hope you've enjoyed today's attempt at making you feel better about your out of control hobby. Have a lovely day! <3
These are so sparkly and pretty! I want!ReplyDelete
Go Ebay yourself some Lisa! They are totally worth it!! :)Delete
I got most of these when they first came out. I was living in Cambridge, Mass and there were hardly any places to buy polish. No Ulta, only one Sally. :( The one bright spot was CVS (which even carried Orly and OPI). I used to buy myself a polish or two (or three or four . . . well you get the idea) after a frustrating day at law school.ReplyDelete
Wow...I don't know what's worse, a frustrating day at school or no place to buy polish! :P I'm glad you were able to cheer yourself up with these and other things. <3Delete
Win, win, win!!! Is all I can say :-D, you are a real polish treasure hunter, great finds all of them! And I am not surprised AT ALL that the most mermaidesque one ranks as your favorite! As for the silver polish - I would definitely classify this as a nude, I have some nude holos too and they look either silver or gold in the bottle, probably due to the holo particles sitting on top of each other, once spread on the nail they reveal the soup they were swiming in - and yep that one is my favorite of the above! Though all of them are beautiful on you <3ReplyDelete
Thank you, thank you, thank you! :D I really do have a wonderful time looking for good stuff on clearance. LOLOL..."the soup they were swimming in"...you have such a way with words. :) I wouldn't have thought of nude because the silver in the bottle is SO silver, but you're absolutely right. And I feel much better now knowing how I can describe it. :PDelete
These are all so pretty! I've never tried a Milani polish. We just got a CVS in town and I think they carry them. I shall check out the selection next time I'm there :)ReplyDelete
Wal-Mart and Target carry them down here. Milani is a nice little drugstore brand. :)Delete
I love The Cheapskate Files, I bought a few of these at my local dollar store a few months ago, I need to dig them out asap lol. I'm crossing my fingers with hope for Cyberspace to be one of the ones I found!ReplyDelete
Haha...thanks! I love doing Cheapskate Files posts, so I'm glad you like them. <3 Isn't Cyberspace the bomb?? There is a lot going on in there...Delete
I bought these at the Dollar Tree a couple months ago!ReplyDelete
Ahhhh! Excellent! They are worth wayyyy more than we cheapos are paying. :PDelete
A jelly holo? Really? That sounds like all kinds of awesome!ReplyDelete
Oh it is. It IS. :DDelete
