Pretty Jelly Goes Back to School

Hey everybody!  Yes, it's me.  Hugs and kisses all around!

Nothing brings one out of dormancy quite like a new collection from a favorite brand.  The Pretty Jelly Back to School Brights collection is a fabulous array of *this close to neon* scattered/linear holos that is even prettier in person than in photos.  The colors are a nod to all those grammar school memories we have...well, to be totally honest, we 70's grammar school kids didn't exactly have neon things yet, but I digress...

All the polishes here dry very quickly to a semi-matte finish.  I used top coat on each because, of course, I like to shine.  Let's take a look!

First up is a polish so full of yumness that it may very well be caloric:  Scented Markers.

Scented Markers were NOT invented in the 1970's.  But never mind that...look at this gorgeous purple!  I would describe it as mulberry-tinged bright orchid.  How's that for specific?

Next we have every kid's favorite thing in the world:  Pop Quiz!  Ah, I can still remember the sounds of groaning across the classroom...

Pop Quiz is described as coral, but on me it's a gentle apricot.  It's a good bit brighter in indirect light.  I used three coats of this one to cover up Mr. VaNeLi.  I wore this one this week for three days before it finally gave in and chipped.

The last Back to School polish I have is a lovely bright pink called Book Fair.  I loved Book Fair time.  I bought the coolest ever coloring book once that looked just like those popular adult coloring books around today.  I'm such a visionary. :)

Book Fair is the most linear-leaning holo of the three.  This hot pink is bright, sparkly and electric.

Be sure to check out the Back to School Brights collection on Etsy for the rest of the collection!  I cannot recommend Pretty Jelly enough for consistently good formulas, interesting color choices, and yes - intelligent polish names.

As always, thank you for reading, and have a lovely day! <3

Wet n Wild Chambray Showers and Ferris-Wheel Romance

Hey everybody!  I hope you're all having a lovely weekend.  Yesterday was beauty salon day...YAY!  My hair grows like a weed, so it's always a huge relief to go for my 6-week haircut.  And besides, I love getting my scalp scrubbed. :)

To continue with my drugstore bonanza shop fest from last weekend, today's post features 2 polishes from the Wet n Wild Wild Shine Summer Festival collection.  This collection was a summer 2014 limited edition.

First up is Chambray Showers, a light blue creme reminiscent of Sleeping Beauty turquoise.

The formula on Chambray Showers was great.  I used 2 coats, and the wear time was really good.  I don't know where all those little spots you see in the pic came from.  I sure don't remember seeing polka-dotted showers in person. :/  And a word of warning:  Chambray Showers will stain a bit.

Another of the Summer Festival collection I chose was rather NOT me, but I really like the way it looked in the store, so I decided to give it a try.  I'm glad I did, because Ferris-Wheel Romance is a cool-toned apricot that doesn't have those annoying coral tendencies that irk me.

I've read other people describe this color as coral, but I wouldn't call it coral  It's too respectable to be called such a thing. :D  Ferris-Wheel Romance had another fantastic creme formula with great wear time as well.

Ferris-Wheel Romance...what a name.  Mr. Sweets finds nothing romantic about a ferris wheel.  He is rather panicky during the duration of the ride and gets unnecessarily chatty to get his mind off the fact that he can see over the trees.

I found these LE Wild Shines at Walgreens during their Wet n Wild sale...so I paid a whopping $.69 each for them. :)  There is something a bit retro about these two colors.  Chambray Showers has that 1960's turquoise blue kitchen look.  I especially recommend Ferris-Wheel Romance for anybody who wants a true, non-yellow influenced apricot.  Oh, and they really are shiny. :)

Thanks for reading, and have a lovely day! <3

Nicole by OPI Sweet Daisy and Southern Charm

Hey everybody!  How is everybody's Monday going?  Mine is full of allergy woes, and my left eye looks like it's sprung a huge leak.   So much for the eyeliner.  My NAILS, however, are quite a different story. :)

Today I have two polishes by Nicole by OPI from the Carrie Underwood collection.  I wasn't super-wowed by these when I saw pictures of them at first because most of the colors seemed not that unusual...but they grew on me.  However, somebody out there liked them, because when I went looking for them, the entire display was cleaned out except for one bottle.  I had to go shopping elsewhere! :/  One of the colors I picked up was Sweet Daisy.

Shall I tell you why I got this one?  Because you all don't expect to see me wearing this color.  Admit it...you are SHOCKED to see dusty peachy-apricot on these nails!  It's okay.  So am I.  But once I got Sweet Daisy on, I absolutely loved it.  The creme formula was fabulous.  I used 3 thin coats and application was great...but as you can see, Mr. You-Know-Who was still peeking through.  The pest...

The other polish I got from the line is Southern Charm.  I mean, it's totally me, right?  Southern...check.  Charming...well CHECK!  Right?? :P  This color was my favorite of all the Carries when I first started seeing swatches popping up.  It's one of those ever-present neutrals we are seeing in droves right now...it's a nude creme that looks slightly pink on me.  I love it.

When I was little, I always loved the way the models' fingernails looked on The Price Is Right.  And their shoes were the same color as their nails!  I think I've found that loved-of-old shade.  I hope I get to play the Cliff Hangers game too!! :)

I used 3 coats of Southern Charm as well.  It's really strange...I used this polish a couple of weeks ago, and I had THE streakiest time with it...it was just a mess.  Well, this time, I had no trouble at all, so I'm chalking the first experience up to sleepiness...bad lighting...allergies?

Have you all picked up any of the Carrie Underwood collection?  Are you still loving the neutral thing?  And most importantly, what do you use for sinus and allergy woes?

Thanks for stopping by, and have a lovely day! <3
