Chocolate and Coffee: Salon Perfect Cafe Ole

Hey everybody!  I hope things are well with you. :)  Today I am showing you a polish from Salon Perfect's new First Look Fall Polish Forecast collection called Cafe Ole.  Cafe Ole is a brown-taupe creme with a fantastic gold shimmer.

I simply have to tell you the story of how I found this collection.  As you probably know, Salon Perfect is a Wal-Mart exclusive, so you can pretty much figure it'll be a crap shoot as far as actually finding them IN a Wal-Mart.  I had actually been looking for another polish, SinfulColors Graine de Poivre, which Liesl of Liesl Loves Pretty Things made me really want.  Alas, no Graine de Poivre, and nothing really interesting anywhere else either, until I spotted 3 brand new Salon Perfect fall displays shoved into the back of the BOTTOM SHELF OF THE CLEARANCE SECTION,  hidden away so that nobody could even see them.  Ay yi yi.

Salon Perfect describes Cafe Ole as milk chocolate brown with a golden shimmer. On me, it looks more like chocolaty mud.  That's not to say it's not attractive.  It's terribly pretty, and the shimmer makes it glow.

I used two coats of Cafe Ole for the photos.  The formula was good...a little thin but easily manageable, and with no cuticle pooling.  The first coat went on patchy, but everything leveled out with the second.

I love this polish for fall!  Nothing like a cup o' muddy chocolate coffee to make you long for your favorite sweater! :D

Salon Perfect polishes retail for $3.98 at Wal-Mart stores.  Good luck finding them!!  Be sure to check the clearance section for all the latest releases! :/

Thanks for stopping by, and have a lovely evening! :)

    1. Thanks! This collection was overall quite impressive...except for the whole being hidden part. :)

  2. Ooooh, great find! I NEVER go to Wal-Mart unless it's absolutely necessary. This may be a necessity:) I've never tried Salon Perfect polish before.

    1. This is my first one too. I bought this a couple of weeks before Yun posted about them, so I was pretty sure I would like this one because hers all looked really nice. :) I never to go Wally World unless it's necessary. Unfortunately, today is one of those days. :((

  3. Colors like this scare the crap outta me (poop joke!). I know these colors look especially terrible on certain skin tones (not yours CLEARLY), and I'm not sure I'm willing to risk it. Lol.

  4. Hi Melissa, what a great post!!!! You are the eagle eye of nailpolish hunters!!! And so much Fun to read through the comments! I was once in a Walmart in the middle of Arkansas desperately searching for a tent for my trip to Daytona for the Harley Davidson Week - what an experience - LOL!!! Now back to Chocoffee: is it possible that it resembles China Glaze Ingrid? I do love the mud mixed into this one particularly xxx

    1. I was just going to say it reminds me a LOT of my China Glaze Ingrid!! :D Great minds think alike, apparently. :) Perhaps I should dig that one out of the 'ol stash and put some photos up so we can compare from afar...unless you have it, Melissa? Comparison posts are fun! Of course I have yet to do one but I make it a point to not buy anything similar to what I already have.
I don't know what you and Liesl are eating, but your nails look to be about the same beautiful length!! Mine are FINALLY getting a bit of a free edge on 'em! YAY. But give it a week and I'll break something, I'm sure! Anyhoo...
Lovely job, my dear. :D And my personal favorite line of the post: be sure to look for the new releases in the clearance section. BWAHAHAHA! Oh the incongruity.

    2. Christine: every trip to Wal-Mart is an experience! :/

And to both of you...I don't have China Glaze Ingrid...hadn't heard of it actually until now and looked it up...but since Salon Perfect is China Glaze's little sister, maybe it's the same color re-branded? It might look a bit browner and less taupe though. Emily, you should post about it!

Em: Liesl and I are probably not eating the same stuff since she's a vegetarian, but we DO both use Duri Rejuvacote!! :D

  5. That's such a great color on you, Melissa! I'm really happy you were able to find this. I'm a huge fan of the Salon Perfect fall collection in general, but I know they are sometimes a little tricky to get ahold of. I always have the worst luck trying to find polishes at Wal-Mart lol. :)

  7. Another great color, aren't fall colors the most elegant? You have a hefty accessory collection there, you always find something that matches and that is such a cool touch, I am a huge fan!

    1. Haha...why thank you! I do have a rather indecent amount of jewelry...even more than nail polish, if you can believe that. I figure, why not put them together for a photo? :) I agree...fall colors are so elegant that I love to wear them all year. :D
