My Favorite Gumdrop: Nicole by OPI That's What I Mint

Hey everybody!  Well, how do you like that?  Nicole by OPI goes and sneaks in a couple of new textured Gumdrops shades on us.  And one of them is teal.  Hyperventilating yet??

Goodness gracious ALIVE, but this color is fabulous.  NOPI calls this shade emerald green (not mint, as the name suggests), and it honestly does look very much like Zoya Giovanna.  But sorry, I call greens with this much blue in them "teal."  It's my blog, after all. :D

Oh, and I didn't mention the highly visible gold shimmer that runs throughout That's What I Mint.  Yep, this one officially wins the blue ribbon for my favorite texture.   The photos show 2 coats on its own.

And 2 coats with topcoat:

ARRGGHH!!  Look at the depth the top coat gives the color.  It also allows the gold shimmer to really be noticeable.   You all know how much I love textured polishes with topcoat...they always look like a pavement of colored diamonds.

That's What I Mint was released with a limited edition yellow polish called Lemon Lolly.  I found them at Target, right after I left Ulta next door...Ulta had a full display of the original shades, but not the two new ones.  Wow, how lucky am I that just HAD to go to Target to get some Pumpkin Spice M&Ms that night?? :P

Thank for stopping by, and have a lovely day! :)

  1. You are right, it's neither mint nor emerald green ( sheesh, looks like NOPI needs new color descriptors if that's even a term or word haha! ) it is a beautiful teal shade and I love the gold, reminds me of a mermaid's tail!

    1. That's exactly the right color description! With all these "mermaid" polishes, somebody finally made a textured one! :)

  2. Haha it's a series of misnomers. I agree with you that it's firmly teal and not mint or emerald green. But no matter what you call it, it's really gorgeous! I was really impressed by this NOPI collection. They had some really unique texture colors. :)

    1. I'm glad I'm not the only one who doesn't call all these "emerald green" polishes emerald green! I totally agree about the NOPI Gumdrops...the colors were really lovely, and the sparkle in them in amazing. I should probably pick up a couple more! :/

  3. I'd read that those two colors were/are exclusive to CVS, but clearly Target got 'em too. I looooove That's What I Mint, right from the very first swipe of the brush. It's such a gorgeous shade, especially for this time of year. I see myself wearing this again and again for many months! :)

    1. I didn't even know anything about the two new colors until I was walking by the makeup in Target, and the antennae went up, LOL...It is such a gorgeous shade that I wonder why it was so late in coming! ;)

  4. This is something else! I can see why it's your fave texture. It's got an extraordinary amount of depth. But yes, a perplexing name. I've oft wondered what goes through the OPI powers that be's heads when it comes to narrowing down names... They're often all sorts of terrible, lol. But whatevs, the polishes are so pretty it seldom matters. and when I say seldom, I mean I will never own Mrs. O'Leary's BBQ or Uh-oh, Roll Down the Window.

  5. Those two are in pretty bad taste, aren't they? But this one is just confusing. :) It is such a fetching color that I can just explain it away with the photos. :D

    1. I'm not crazy about straight texture, simply because the feel of it on my nails worries me to death! But I love them with top coat...they're just crazy beautiful.

    1. They are really good...they're chocolate, with a hint of spice. They remind me of that Holiday Coke that had a little bit of spice. :)
