Nicole by OPI Comparison: Just Busta Mauve and Cinna-Man of My Dreams

Hey everybody!  We've seen a whole lot of textured polish this year.  And while I don't go crazy for them as many people do, there were two textured polishes that I really wanted this year:  Julie G Rock Candy and Nicole by OPI Cinna-Man of My Dreams.  I wanted them for the same reason I usually want a polish:  because they were unusual.

When I finally found Cinna-Man (everybody seemed to be really late getting the NOPI Gumdrops), I noticed right away that in the bottle, it bore a striking resemblance to another of my very favorite NOPI polishes, Just Busta Mauve.  Sooo...I decided to do a little comparison of the two.  Obviously, I knew they wouldn't, or couldn't, look a whole lot similar due to the texture difference, but the colors are so close in the bottle that it got me curious.

(L) Just Busta Mauve and (R) Cinna-Man of My Dreams

Just Busta Mauve is a brown glass fleck polish with a little pink and a lot of blue shimmer.  I LOVE this polish.  It's a bit sheer but builds up nicely in 3 coats.

Look at that insane shimmer!  The blue is hard to capture in photos, but it's very visible in real life and produces a sparkling effect.  The only thing about this polish that I don't like is the name.  Mauve?  Really??

Cinna-Man of My Dreams is another polish that's a little bit unusual...it's a brownish-red that looks a little pink too.  It's crazy sparkly and looks magically delicious! :)

As you can see, Cinna-Man is super sparkly, but bears absolutely no resemblance to Just Busta Mauve on the nail.  It's a little closer with top coat, but still Cinna-Man is his own man. :)

UGH...I LOVE THIS with top coat!!  Look at the depth it gives it.  It's a striking polish either way.  So is Just Busta Mauve.  But they're not even close in color when you get them out of the bottle.  Am I the only one who thinks they look alike in the bottle??

Well I hope you've enjoyed my little comparison of completely different polishes, LOL.  Well, okay...let's just say it was for my own benefit!! :)

Thanks for stopping by, and remember to enter my giveaway!  It ends Sunday night, and the prizes are fantastic! :)  Have a lovely day!

  1. I am one of the people who go crazy for textured polishes! Sadly, I only have 4 in my stash. Even though Just Busta Mauve isn't really for me, I LOVE Cinna-Man of My Dreams! It is so sparkly and delicious looking. I'd wear it for fall! Wow, when you put topcoat on it, it's amazing! Also, I'm a HUGE fan of The Hunger Games, and the name Cinna just makes me want to run to the nearest store, buy it, paint my nails with it, and read the whole series again!

    1. I'm surprised you only have 4...I don't have a whole lot, but I'm not full-blown nuts over them. I'm wondering when the trend will dissipate. I do LOVE textured polishes with top coat. They are stunning that way. So if they stay around for a long time, I'll always have top coat! :) And who wants Cinna when there's Peeta??!! :P

  5. I absolutely love textured polishes! You can make a mistake in application and no one would notice! It's amazing how similar polishes can look in the bottle, yet look completely different on the nail. The colour really suits you, too :)

    1. You're so right about the no-mistake factor, and I really love textures for that reason. Yeah, I was amazed at how different these 2 were, but I'm glad I did the comparison because now I'll not wonder... :)

  6. Cinna-Man is totally stunning! Love how warm and rich that color is, and the texture in it adds such nice depth to the polish! I'm really impressed with the NOPI textures from what I've seen. :)

  7. Nooooo wayyyyy!!!! I cannot believe you just happened to do a comparison of these two after I was debating which one to get only last week, because I also thought they looked SUPER similar. As of right now, I have neither...I was gonna get CMOMD on a blog sale, but ended up picking the lilac one. :-/ Now I kinda wish I'd gotten CMOMD instead! I plan on looking for JBM next time I'm in Target. My luck, they'll no longer have it - just like what happened with the Versailles collection. :-P Gahhh they're sooo purty! Lovely job, Melissa!!!
My go-to fall polishes are gonna be You Are the Brute Squad (LynBDesigns) and KBShimmer's Quantum Leaf (just came in the mail yesterday).

    1. I'm so glad you had the same thought as me!! I remember a long time ago that you mentioned you wanted Just Busta Mauve. I already had it at the time, but then Cinna-Man came out, and it was so pretty I had to have it too...then I looked at the bottles and thought, hmmmmm... I think you'll be able to find Just Busta Mauve in Target...mine still carries the others from that collection. :)

  8. What a great comparison of two totally unique polishes!!! Of course both of them lon stunning on you - true Melissa shades, being one of those crazy for textured polish people you referred to right now the textured one would be my preference - but just ever so slightly ;-)
