The Blogger Made Me Do It...and Then She Had a Giveaway!

Hey everybody!  It's time for yet another episode of blaming another blogger for my polish shopping.  It's been a while, and I KNOW you're just dying to know whose fault this heavily-influenced purchase is. :)

I have been perfectly enamored of butter LONDON Cake-Hole ever since my fabulously glamorous friend Liesl of Liesl Loves Pretty Things showcased it.  Yes, I am aware of its indecisive coral-pink status.  I remember quite well how sometimes BL's formula and I don't get along.  But that's just how good Liesl is.  She made me want this polish so badly.  I read her review of it several times, just imagining how ultra cool that rubberized finish would feel on my nails!  So when butter LONDON had their half price sale, there it was...for $7.50!!  In was in my shopping cart before you could say, "You should get Giddy Kipper instead..."

Everything looked so flawless on Liesl.  How was I to know Cake-Hole, an almost neon pink, would turn ORANGE on me??

Yes, readers...you are seeing this right.  Look at that beautiful bottle shot.  Then look at my nails.  Two different colors, and one of 'em ain't pretty.  I LOVE the rubberized finish on this...just LOVE it!!  And it dries in no time flat!  But I used THREE coats of Cake-Hole, and Mr. VaNeLi just laughed at me.  It's way worse in person, too.  And he's still laughing at me...probably because I've been wearing this polish for exactly ONE hour, and one of my tips just peeled slap off.  Gone.  WHYYYYYYYY??

I have nothing else to say, other than I'm giving up...and probably giving this one to my little sis.  Don't try talking me off the ledge.

Blast you, Cake-Hole!!!

Wait.  On second thought, I do have something else to say...and that's Happy 2 Year Blogoversary to Liesl Loves Pretty Things!! :)  All complaining about Cake-Hole aside, the point of my post was to show you what a fantastic blogger my dear friend Liesl is.  Always erudite, warmly witty, and perfectly photographed...that is Liesl, and she has a true talent for making pretty polish look even prettier.  I am so thankful and happy to call this sweet girl my friend, even if she lives all the way across the country. <3  Liesl is having a great giveaway to celebrate her blog birthday, with several of her blogging buds participating.  There will be 2 winners...so what are you waiting for??  Enter away, and good luck!!

a Rafflecopter giveaway

Thanks for stopping by, and have a lovely day! <3

  1. That's so weird that it looks so different compared to the bottle. I still think its a nice color regardless though but sad to see you'll have to pass this color to someone else.

    1. Oh, it's okay...I was disappointed though. It wouldn't be a big deal if I didn't HATE orange, LOL... :)

  2. Oh poo!! :( I can't believe that it shows up as a totally different color on you! And that darn Mr. ViNaLi... he sure is a stubborn guy. I had no idea that Cake Hole had a rubberized finish, like one of the Illamasqua collections (I have Vice, which I'm sure you'd like because it's a vampy plum). ;-)
Hm I am now very intrigued by Cake Hole, but if it takes that many coats... meh, I think I'll pass! My LOL line of the post: "It was in my shopping cart before you could say, 'You should get Giddy Kipper instead...' " :D teehee! And speaking of, I actually just got my bottle of Giddy Kipper in the mail today. I bought it super late on Friday; whoa for fast shipping! :O That eBay seller is getting an A+++ rating. :) It was different than all the swatches I scrutinized online... more purple than blue, or right on the line: a blurple. And it seemed the silver shimmer might be like Posh Bird & Victoriana, but it's suuuuper fine. Oh well, I still think it's a very pretty polish! Say, I was looking at your wish list, and if my memory serves me correctly, didn't you get Poole from Essie???
Btw, I LOOOOVE the new look of your blog! I feel like scum under a rug, knowing how long it's been since I've been in a Reverie. :-( ;-) Wonderful job as always, dear!!! ♥

    1. I love the finish on it...it's just so cool. <3 But do I ever get frustrated when something goes orange on me...this happens with certain pink lipsticks too. And FYI, I'm not orange, or even yellow. I'm white. Oh well...this was one that wasn't meant to be, *sigh*. And I don't have Poole. Maybe that wouldn't turn orange! :P

  3. LIESL RULES!!!! I very nearly got that BL for myself too but could restrain my finger from that ominous "add to cart" button in the last minute, remembering how many similar shades I already own (you would have never thought I am capable if this, right?). So yes, Liesl has a very strong impact on us it seems and great that we joined forces!!! Oh and no matter if that thingy changed its color from bottle to nail - it looks beautiful on you <3

    1. Yes, she DOES! <3 Why Christine, I am shocked to hear you have several similar shades. :P Thanks for you kind words about the color, but uggggghhhhh...orange?? LOL

  4. <3<3 Thanks for all the love even if you're not feeling this color... At least you didn't pay full price! :D If I recall, the color shifted in me, too, and yes, it is a *little* on the see through side. I don't reach for mine much because it's hard for me to not topcoat all the things. lol. Anyhoo, despite your misgivings, it is beautiful on you. Thank you for doing this giveaway with me and thank you for being my friend <3 Enjoy your spice cake :)

    1. Hahaha...I did. :) Not feeling the color on me, but you did your job as a blogger beautifully! I will have to get up another Blogger Made Me Do It post with your name on it in another color that did very well on me. :D I thought the absence of top coat would get on my nerves, but it didn't for some reason. I was probably too upset about the whole orange-ness to notice. :) And thank you for being my friend! <3<3

  5. It does seem to have some coral undertones, so maybe that contributes to the shift on you? I know with me, if a color has even the slightest bit of orange or coral, it will look much more orange on me than in the bottle. I've also mostly given up on corals for this reason lol. Still, even if it looks more orange on you, it's lovely! :)

    1. Aww, thank you. <3 That's very diplomatic of you, LOL...I don't know...I just get all mad when I think about what I *wanted* it to look like. :P
