History Lovers Only! OPI Miso Happy With This Color

Hey everybody!  Do you all like history?  I love, love, love it!  I was a history major.  Who knows how I ended up an becoming an accountant?  Ah, well.  Even though I spend my days with an adding machine, I still love history.  And today, I have a little bit of history for you...in nail polish terms, it's nearly ancient history.  The OPI Japanese Collection was released all the way back in 2005, and I have from it this little gem called Miso Happy With This Color.  I adore this polish, and the reason I do might sound weird to you, but it's just so blasted fascinating to me...it's almost the exact color of my skin.

Miso Happy With This Color was one of 3 pale nude creme shades to be released in the Japanese Collection.  This one was the one with the pinkest hue...and it's a barely-barely-there pink at most.  It's dusty-antique too, with the slightest hint of lavender.  I used 2 coats for photos.

And does this bottle look different to you?  Yep, it's different.

It's a black label!!  Black label OPIs were from before the dawn of the Big 3 Era.  They also have really small brushes.  I have tiny nails, and this is one small brush.

I bought Miso Happy With This Color back in 2008 on Ebay.  I remember it was in a lot of 3, all the same color.  I had to toss one after a couple of years because the lid just would not come off anymore, but I do still have two left.  I'm glad of that too.  This is one of my most treasured polishes.  I mean, hey, it might not be King Tut's treasure, but you have to admit, it's pretty cool!  I just think it looks so elegant.  You really can't tell where my fingers stop and my nails begin!  Is that a hallmark of elegance or creepiness?

And there you have it...a polish that looks as strange as I do. :D  What do you think of it?

Thanks for stopping by!  And please don't forget to enter my Warm and Fuzzy Indie-tastic Giveaway!!

  1. A polish that looks as strange as you do... You're SO DARNED CUTE!! And maybe it's my phone, but this looks like your mannequin hands shade. Are you lavender?! Lol. I love history, too, especially Civil War history. I'm no buff or anything but I do enjoy reading about it. Oh, and Go Big 3!! ;D Black labels are fun.

    1. LOL...why thank you. ;) Yes, this is my mannequin hands shade. Isn't that bizarre? My hands are almost colorless, or about as pale as living flesh can get, but I guess there's a bit of lavender-pink in there somewhere. :) My hubby is a Civil War buff too...I've always been an American Revolution/Founding Fathers fanatic. :)

    1. Thank you! :) Yeah, if you want to suck me in, just show me an old sepia photo and give a halfway-interesting narration, and I'm there.

  5. Hehe this nude shade is a great match against your skintone! As for that OPI bottle having a small brush... that's really hard to imagine lol. I totally associate OPI with their wide pro brush. :)

    1. Thanks Yun! :) It really is hard to imagine, but I'd have to say that the brush on this polish is the same size as an OPI mini brush...it's tiny!

  7. Hi Melissa, I am so with Essie and Liesl - perfect mannequin hands - or should I say Geisha hands ;-)!!! Whatever - I love it on you and YAY for having found "your" perfect nude shade!!! And who cares about King Tut's treasure if it is about perfect mannequin hands??? Anyone??? I love history too my most favored topic (but I am like a sponge, I like most of history) are the medivial ages as they have formed our European culture so strongly and we encounter the impacts to the day!!! Have a wonderful day and thanks for this wonderful post xxx

  8. This is so pretty on you! I didn't start paying attention to OPI until long after this collection came out. I have assembled most of the Chicago collection from back in the day via dusty hunting and blog sales and swaps and such--maybe I should look for this one next.

    1. Thanks Karen! :) You can actually find very limited quantities of this on Amazon and Ebay. I think I saw one for $10, which is only a dollar more than OPI now.

  12. I live in a small town and our local salon has older opi's on sale for 3 dollars and I bought this color today. I'm looking up swatches of my new colors and came across your post. Now I'm excited to try it : ) I just hope the formula isn't too old. It seems kinda watery.

    1. Hey Sandee! Wow, lucky you for having all that antique stuff right there! I still love this polish and want to eventually pick up another one from the Japanese collection. My polish isn't watery, so maybe yours will be fine too. :)
