Nicole by OPI Sweet Daisy and Southern Charm

Hey everybody!  How is everybody's Monday going?  Mine is full of allergy woes, and my left eye looks like it's sprung a huge leak.   So much for the eyeliner.  My NAILS, however, are quite a different story. :)

Today I have two polishes by Nicole by OPI from the Carrie Underwood collection.  I wasn't super-wowed by these when I saw pictures of them at first because most of the colors seemed not that unusual...but they grew on me.  However, somebody out there liked them, because when I went looking for them, the entire display was cleaned out except for one bottle.  I had to go shopping elsewhere! :/  One of the colors I picked up was Sweet Daisy.

Shall I tell you why I got this one?  Because you all don't expect to see me wearing this color.  Admit it...you are SHOCKED to see dusty peachy-apricot on these nails!  It's okay.  So am I.  But once I got Sweet Daisy on, I absolutely loved it.  The creme formula was fabulous.  I used 3 thin coats and application was great...but as you can see, Mr. You-Know-Who was still peeking through.  The pest...

The other polish I got from the line is Southern Charm.  I mean, it's totally me, right?  Southern...check.  Charming...well CHECK!  Right?? :P  This color was my favorite of all the Carries when I first started seeing swatches popping up.  It's one of those ever-present neutrals we are seeing in droves right now...it's a nude creme that looks slightly pink on me.  I love it.

When I was little, I always loved the way the models' fingernails looked on The Price Is Right.  And their shoes were the same color as their nails!  I think I've found that loved-of-old shade.  I hope I get to play the Cliff Hangers game too!! :)

I used 3 coats of Southern Charm as well.  It's really strange...I used this polish a couple of weeks ago, and I had THE streakiest time with it...it was just a mess.  Well, this time, I had no trouble at all, so I'm chalking the first experience up to sleepiness...bad lighting...allergies?

Have you all picked up any of the Carrie Underwood collection?  Are you still loving the neutral thing?  And most importantly, what do you use for sinus and allergy woes?

Thanks for stopping by, and have a lovely day! <3

    1. Thank you Lisa! I am not usually a fan of apricot on me...too close to orange! *shudder*

  2. I love both on you and you should wear peachy tones more often! Oh sneak Mr. VNL, his ego must be getting the best of him wanting to make his presence known like that. Regardless it is so pretty and both are perfect for spring! I don't own any of this collection but might have to go look after seeing your swatches! In regards to your sinus and allergy woes, the only piece of advice I can give you is drink hot tea!! Oh and a cool mist humidifier!! Hope you feel better soon!!

    1. Ahh, thank you. <3 Mr. VNL frustrates me almost as badly as my runny nose. :P I think I avoid the peachy tones because they are in the orange family, which scares me to death. Hmmmm...I don't have a cool mist humidifier...when we were growing up, we kept a DE-humidifier in my bedroom. It's so humid here that we had to empty it every couple of hours, LOL...

    1. I HATE taking medicine...I really do. I took some allergy meds this morning, and my eyes stopped leaking but now I have a killer headache! :( I'm glad you like these...I really love them too! <3

  5. What perfectly charming shades, seriously :) I love when a vision is fully realuzed and you totally get the inspiration behind any given collection. I'm not a fan of celeb inspired anything (though Ms. Underwood seems to be a class act) but they're usually spot on in how they represent-at least, the ones I've paid attention to.
I admit to being one surprised by the peach but it really us lovely on you-- both shades are, and I think if you wanted to do some swirly nail art (like a dry marble?) with these two and top it with a subtle sparkler it'd be fun and classy... If you were so inclined :)

    2. Whoa!! Swirly nail art?? That would give me a nervous breakdown! :P I did, however, think these two shades complimented the other, and for a *fleeting* moment considered stamping. Nah.

      Heh heh.

  6. Hi Melissa, I tell you, I feel that trend! Ever since I wore my one and only peach, I feel quite drawn to that color! And perfect mannequin hands :-) - I love Liesl's suggestion of a water marble with the two - or the so called hairspray technique that I saw on a Blog recently! So sorry to hear about your allergy - what a nightmare! Hope you will be better soon :-)

    1. Hairspray technique?? You girls are killing me!! Nail art is very seldom allowed on this blog!! :P Just kidding...ya'll know how I feel about it. :) Liesl is sneaky though...she threw that suggestion in there because I got bold and did a gradient, LOLOL. That's why I love my friends...you guys are trying to help me branch out. <3 Or maybe I love you because you complimented a peach shade on me? :P

  7. I'm also drawn to that color as well as soft (as opposed to LOUD) oranges. Really tricky to find the right shade for pale skin. Beautiful swatches. Still no Carrie Underwood collection in my area. I'm waiting to snag a couple - Party Bus for one. As if I need (yet) another glitter lol.

    1. Orange has a tendency to be frightening. I mean really. Thanks for the compliment. <3 I really do like Goodbye Shoes in the collection as well, but I'm like you with glitters...I don't need another dusty greenish blue, LOL.

  8. No, I don't own a single Nicole by OPI....can't stand the bottle. BUT, I shouldn't judge a polish by the bottle...it's what is inside that counts, right? These are both awesome shades! Sorry, I don't have any remedies for sinus or allergy woes:(

    1. I know what you mean about the bottle. I've yet to figure out the reasoning behind it, LOL. But I do love these shades and will gladly put up with that crazy bottle. :)

    2. Someone said that the bottle reminds them of a nail polish with a beer belly....LOL. Now I think of that every time I see it.

    3. LOLOL...wow. That's perfect.

  9. Oh no, allergies already! :( I think there's an antihistamine eye drop that you can get over the counter... it might help with your eyes. Sweet Daisy is soo sooo pretty on you!
