The Blogger Made Me Do It: Not Your Mama's Cranberry Sauce

Hey everybody!  I just know you're in the mood for me to blame somebody else for making me buy polish.  Well, here I am to deliver!  Aren't you impressed with my lack of personal responsibility? :D  Today's guilty party for causing me to go polish bananas is...drumroll please...Michelle from Lacquer or Leave Her.  Her post on Shirley Ann Nail Lacquers had me hopping on Etsy over Black Friday weekend before the Thanksgiving leftovers were cold. :)  I took advantage of the fabulous Black Friday sale that designer Cherish was having and snagged this unbelievable beauty...and it's Not Your Mama's Cranberry Sauce! ;)

Are your eyes still recovering from the incredible holo glitter in this beauty??  Well, that's good, because mine haven't! :D  I kid you not, Not Your Mama's Cranberry Sauce is now in my Top 5 most beloved polishes.  It's THAT beautiful.  And Cherish is right...this is not my Mom's cranberry sauce.  Our cranberry sauce always had ridges and numbers stamped on the bottom. :P

As you can see, Not Your Mama's Cranberry Sauce is...YEP...a cranberry-colored jelly that is packed with heaps of delicious medium, small, and micro gold holo glitter.  I used three coats of it, and application was hands down the best jelly polish I have ever used.  The glitter spread evenly as well.

Of course, photos can't accurately show the flash of the glitter...but I will tell you that under the lights, it looks like flickering candlelight.  It's so perfect for Christmas time!  I was talking to somebody in the office while wearing this polish, and the person was looking at my hands and honestly got distracted.  I have been wearing Not Your Mama's Cranberry Sauce for three days and counting.  I just don't want to take it off. :)

You can find Not Your Mama's Cranberry Sauce and other Shirley Ann Nail Lacquers on Etsy.  Full sized bottles sell for only $6, which is just absurd, because every single one I bought is pure magic.  I bought my sister a bottle of Cranberry Sauce for Christmas because it's so crazy gorgeous.  I will show you the other Shirley Ann Nail Lacquers I picked up over Black Friday weekend at a later date...I just HAD to get this tasty number in before Christmas!

What do you think of this juicy delight?  Thanks for stopping by, and have a lovely day! ;)

  3. This is just WOW is the only word I have for this. She took a beautiful and classy red jelly and just sent it over the top with that gold glitter. This most definitely is "that perfect Christmas red" I wouldn't want to take it off either ;-)

    1. Yes!! You need to check her out...everything is so gorgeous. Let me also heartily recommend one called Sea Glass. It's stunning. But you NEED Cranberry Sauce in your life. :D

  5. My mom loves serving jellied cranberry sauce shopped right outta the can and onto this beautiful cut crystal dish. It's a study in opposites if ever there was one. So, this polish and it's sentiment very much applies to me, too, lool. It is highly gorgeous and I can scarce believe the price--$6 for a full sized indie?! I hope she's turning a profit.

    2. LOLOL...cranberry sauce is kind of a joke with my family. We served cranberry relish one year, and Brian was so offended...he said he wanted it the right way, which is out of a can and sliced, hahaha! This polish, however, looks more like cranberry relish, complete with magical holo cranberries!! I might eat more fruit if it all looked like this. :D Yep, $6...I tell you, it's insane...and you will lurrrvvv another one I picked up.

  7. Lovely polish! Your story about cranberry sauce reminded me of the look on my Dad's face when he ate at my sister's and she served him canned sauce... you'd have thought something had crawled out of the sewer and landed on the table...LOL!!! My mom always made it from scratch and processed it through a food mill ( and I do that, too-- guess because of that look on Daddy's face....) The next year he ate at my house and smiled so big when he saw the cranberry sauce was homemade.

This year he made the Feast for he and my mom... and ironies of ironies, he served canned sauce....hahahaha!

    1. No way. That is so not right, LOL!! We always ate canned sauce growing up, so eating it now is pure nostalgia. We don't ever have standard food for a holiday meal - my husband calls it "fancy" food - so there is something sort of comforting about good ol' canned cranberry sauce. :)

  8. Hi Melissa, you are right, this is a ridculously beautiful number!!! And I came to love the slight sheerness of glitter jellies, it gives the finish such sirupy quality :-), and LOL LOL - your ability to deflect responsibility is very impressive - as for me, I just say one word "Pahlish" (winky-wink).... :-D

    1. Heh heh...;) My Mom exclaimed this morning in exasperation that she did NOT like jellies...she seems to have a rough time with them. I love jellies so much!! Methinks it's because they look so foody. :D
