Mermaids Everywhere! Julie G Mermaid's Tale

Hey everybody!  I know we've talked about this before:  the abundance of polishes with "mermaid" in the name.  Just what's up with that?  My bud Yadi at Night Swatcher recently had Mermaid Week (so much nicer than Shark Week) on her blog, during which she featured several lovely mermaid-esque polishes, and we both observed how many mermaid polishes there are these days.  But I had decided some time ago that I want to own every polish out there with "mermaid" in the name...just because.  I don't know why...maybe to see if they all look different? :D

Enter today's polish:  Julie G Mermaid's Tale, not to be confused with...uh...Sally Hansen Mermaid's Tale

Julie G Mermaid's Tale is a really lovely blue-green glass fleck with a heavy gold shimmer.  It's similar to Barielle Jillian's Jammin' in that it's super-shimmery and looks transparent in pics, but not in person.

I used 2 coats of Mermaid's Tale, but I'm not sure even 3 would have made a difference in the photos.  It's just that kind of polish. :)  But it shimmers like nobody's business!  Check out that sparkling bottle! :D

I love Julie G polishes.  They are a great quality with a good formula and sell for a very agreeable $3.99.  Mermaid's Tale has the feel of fairy tales and fantasy with an enchanting sparkle that just won't quit.

So...what do you think of the plethora of "mermaid" polishes?  I mean, why not "minotaur" or "giant squid" polishes, huh? :P  Julie G polishes can be purchased at Rite Aid or on their website.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a lovely day! <3

  2. This is so pretty! It kinda reminds me of Zoya Charla, which I love. It's got that sheer-in-photos quality, too. I would totally hoard all the Minotaur-themed polishes. Giant squid polishes, too. Capital idea, Melissa! Make it happen. ;)

    1. I never did get Charla. I know, I know...how on earth did that one slip by?? :) This does remind me of the pic of Charla though. And YEAH my Giant Squid polish would be called INK! :D

  3. I love this color. I also love mermaids, I have been obsessed with them since I first saw The Little Mermaid when I was three. I used to spin around in my living room with my Ariel doll singing along with movie. I still dream about being a mermaid, especially since I've hurt my foot and walking is painful but swimming is easy (I used to be a competitive swimmer and right now it's about the only exercise I can do without wanting to scream). I still think I should have been born a mermaid . . .

    1. Oh no! Bless your heart! :( I can appreciate your love for The Little Mermaid...that soundtrack is fantastic! But I always preferred Ursula. :D Oooooh...all this talk of water and stuff. I'm hydrophobic, so it makes me sweaty just thinking about living underwater, LOL.

  4. Hi Melissa, I see, your inner Ariel has taken control!!! But mind you, this is such a perfect mermaid shade. As of late I started to appreciate the slight transluscent polishes - their effects sort of swim in them like fish (or mermaids ;-P) in a shallow bay of tropical clear water!!! Have a lovely day <3

    1. Yeah!! I'll be combing my hair with a FORK before long!! Uh...too bad I can't swim! :P I agree that this is not totally translucent because in real life you can't see visible nail line. It's really lovely! :)

  5. We don't have JulieG around here and I am sad about that. I'm not a big fan of visible nail lines, but this looks pretty. You have great photos and beautiful nails!

    1. Well, at least there's no VNL in person. :D It's so sparkly that I can't begin to tell you. Awww, thanks! What an outstanding compliment coming from you. <3

  6. Lol! I think "mermaid" is a positive adjective, while "squid" is not. :P I mean, "Squid's Tentacles" just doesn't have the same ring to it, you know? That being said, I haven't seen a mermaid polish that I don't love, this one included. So pretty! :D

    1. "Squid Tentacles"!! Well, that just sounds beautiful!! :D Mermaid polishes are pretty nice, aren't they? Do you suppose mermaids actually paint their nails??

    2. Of course they paint their nails! What else do they have to do? They can't just swim around all day. :P

  7. Wohooooooo for Mermaids! :) This is very pretty, it reminds me of Sinful Colors Kissy and yep, Zoya Charla. So what I am wondering is, why isn't there a Mermaid's TAIL? Come on, it's the sparkly part of the mermaid, I am wondering if it's a PC thing, would fish be upset since it's technically a fish tail also? In any case, they are all very pretty! :) Thank you!

  8. I have yet to get my hands on a JulieG polish because there's no Rite Aid where I live! I'll have to order some online soon. I wish blues and greens looked better on me, but for some reason I think they make my hands look...ugh :)
