It's Groovy: Orly High on Hope

Hey everybody!  Orly introduced the Hope and Freedom Fest Collection back in spring 2013, and after Christmas I noticed that Ulta had the whole collection on clearance.  I picked up two of the hippie-themed polishes, and today I have High on Hope to show you.

Let me first start out by saying that I LOVE THIS!  High on Hope is a deep navy blue packed with fuchsia shimmer.  It all blends together to look sort of violet purple.

The shimmer is High on Hope is one of the shimmeriest shimmers I ever saw.  This polish is just beautiful.  I just wouldn't have named it "High on Hope"...hmmmmm...in keeping with the Summer of Love theme, I think maybe..."Never Trust Anyone Over 30"?  NOOO...I didn't mean that!  How about "Outta Sight"? :D

I used two coats of High on Hope and had no application issues.  It's a well-behaved polish...unlike many people from the 1960's. :/

Next time you are visiting your neighborhood Ulta, be sure to check out the Hope and Freedom Fest Collection and try to snag this one before it gets away.  High on Hope is something you absolutely want...it's pretty far out! :P

I was actually born at the tail end of the 1960's.  Do you know what the best part of being born in the 60's was?  Being a teenager in the 80's!  AWESOME!!

Thanks for stopping by, and have a lovely day! <3

  1. I love it! Is it bad that I kinda like the name? LOL! Hope was in the air along with all the other fumes these ill-behaved youth were spreading about! :) The 80's were the best, I was a tween at the end, NKOTB were my life!!!

    1. Yes! That is bad!! Don't you like "Outta Sight" better?? :P Ahhhhh...I hate to bust it to you, but you missed the best year ever, which was 1984, LOLOL. :) NKOTB could NEVER compare to Duran Duran!! :)

  3. Gosh, what a beautiful polish!!! I was born mid-way through the sixties so those years mean playing with stuffed animals and model cars. But then I am Swiss and our nation was never known for being fast or on Trend, even the more so back then. This blue reminds me of the velvets that would be sewn to tiny waistcoats or Boleros and then adorned with embroidery - mind you, I am far beyond those pieces of clothing but it is perfect nailwardrobe ;-) - beautiful on you <3

    1. I was playing with stuffed animals in the 70's too. :) And Barbie!! Ahhhh, blue velvet is so pretty, however it's worn. <3 And thank you...this polish is so lovely. <3

  4. Yup yup, I definitely like this polish!!! I think what originally sold me on it, sight unseen, was that one review I read said it was somewhat like the shimmer/flakes in BL Two Fingered Salute. SOLD! That has to be my all-time favorite polish. :D
Shimmeriest shimmers, huh? LOL!!! Good one, dearie! ;) Isn't there an OPI named Shimmer Me Timbers? That's what your phrase made me think of. Either that or I just made it up.
My goodness I CANNOT get over how LOOOOOOONG your nails are! :O Can't. stop. staring. hehehe! To say that Duri agrees with you is certainly an understatement. :)

    1. You know, it kinda does look like Two Fingered Salute in pics! I don't know about a Shimmer Me Timbers, but that's a terribly good moniker, if I do say so myself. :) Haha, this is probably the longest my nails have ever been...I keep waiting the The Big Break. The only thing is I'm right-handed, but my nails on my left hand keep breaking!! :/ That's why I have been swatching with my right hand for a couple of months.

  5. I really like this one. And I love looking at Ulta's clearance rack - picked up several pixie dusts there last time. :)

  6. What a unique polish! This is so pretty. I shall check out the clearance section at Ulta soon. I hope I have good luck like you. I went to TJMaxx after reading about your finds there and they had nothing at mine :(

    1. You know, the last couple of times I went to TJ Maxx, I couldn't find anything. I think it must be either feast or famine. This polish looks pretty nice in the bottle, but it's so gorgeous on. <3

  7. I love that you love Orly because they don't really show up on my radar too much so you basically get to introduce me to all sorts of gorgeousness I'm not ordinarily drawn to. High On Hope is quite a unique little beauty, I can't think of a dark blue with fuschia shimmer. It sounds like someone's dream polish.
Btw I bet being a teenager in the '80s was fun. I sure thought the high school gals who rode my bus were cool ;)

    1. Orly doesn't get a whole lot of attention, which I think is unfortunate. :/ I think this polish is incredibly unusual, and of course, that means I have to have it! :D And yeah, being a teenager in the 80's was fabulous...nobody was afraid of hairspray, and every girl was either Blair, Jo, Natalie, or Tootie. :P

I really love comments. They brighten my day! But I won't make you do all the work...I always answer them! :)
