Sinful Colors Yes Officer (and lots of Halloween Pics!)

Hey everybody!  Are you having a fantastic Saturday? :)

Okay, I'm going to go ahead and admit it...I have officially morphed into a Sinful Colors addict.  It happened so quickly.  I never knew what hit me.  Was it the $ 1.99 price point?  The huge selection of interesting colors?  Well, I know what did it for me this time:  it was the NAME.  I bought this polish because I read the name and laughed out loud...in Wal-Mart.  Yes Officer.

YES OFFICER!!  That still makes me laugh.  Is it just me, or it that hilarious?  Hahahahaha!!!  Yes Officer is one of the new SC polishes for fall from their espionage-themed line (like Classified).  So yes, I bought this polish for the name.  BUT the fact that I didn't have another blue like this one didn't hurt. :)

Yes Officer is a peculiar little number.  In photos, and outside in sunlight, it looks like a really bright and rather Smurfy blue.  But indoors, it looks almost teal.  I don't think I ever saw a polish change so much going from inside to outside.  And of course, all attempts at capturing the indoor teal look have failed.  You'll just have to trust me on this one.

Well, at least I know this:  whatever lighting you're in, Yes Officer is a lovely color and a very autumnal, *slightly* dusty blue.  The formula seems to be more like a crelly than a creme.  I used two coats for photos and still had a bit a patchiness, so next time I will use three.  The only bad part about Yes Officer is that it did an illegal amount of flooding... just be careful of that.  Yes Officer just might cause you to be arrested and dragged off in chains for looking so fabulous!

And...as promised...I have some of this year's Halloween pics I thought I'd share with you! :)  My baby Angelo as a rootin-tootin' cowboy:

And Nicolo as a (depressed) jester:

My sister Melanie and brother-in-law Chris do Halloween like nobody else.  They have a 3-story house that seems to have been intentionally designed to look spooky...we have nicknamed the house the Monster Plantation, a.k.a. Monsta P (Chris even created a Facebook page for it).  Mel and Chris decorate the Monster Plantation from the bottom all the way to the top.

Here are me and Mel as cracked dolls...hey, check me out as a redhead Bratz, LOL! :D

My brother-in-law Chris as a ventriloquist's dummy:

Me, Mel, and Penny the zombie girl in the graveyard:

And photos of the Monster Plantation in all its spooky glory...

The Monster Plantation!

I HATE this guy.

Quoth the ravens...

Yes, Penny's eyes glow.  And she swings by herself and sings.

Well, if you've read this post all the way through, I am impressed!! :)  Thanks for stopping by, and have a lovely day!

  1. Haha your take on Yes Officer is hilarious! It's a fantastic blue. I usually have trouble pulling off a blue that cool-toned, but it really looks fantastic on you. :) Aww your dogs are so cute in costume, and it looks like you had a wonderful Halloween! <3

    1. Aww...thanks! I enjoyed wearing it today with jeans...looked really nice even when it pretended to be teal. :P And thanks, my boys hated their costumes...they didn't realize how cute they were. <3 And we did have a lot of fun on Halloween...Penny scared the liver out of some little kids, LOL!

  3. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this entire post!! From the interesting color of Yes Officer to the so-adorable-I-can-hardly-stand-it photos of Nicolo & Angelo (poor depressed Nicolo!), to the incredible Monsta P... WOW!! :D I must say their house looks like something I would swoon over and the all-out décor is top-notch, but uhhh too scary for me! :-/ Especially Penny the zombie girl in the mangrove trees or whatever - I would've been one of those kids losing their liver for sure! :P Your bro-in-law's costume is mind-bendingly cool, but the whole ventriloquist dummy thing creeps me out the way some people are creeped out by clowns! haha
P.S. I love what ya did with the whole "hauled off in chains" thing, and then ooh - chain link necklace for the requisite jewelry shot! ;) BEAUTIFUL. Sorry to hear about the "illegal amount of flooding" though. Oy. :-/

I could have posted SO much more stuff...believe me, these didn't scratch the surface. You have seriously never seen a house decorated like theirs. Oh, and Chris put his costume together the night before Halloween!! :/

    2. To clarify, I like the HOUSE, not so much the house + uber scary Halloween stuff! ;) I guess I'm rather like Essie - you would never find me around a haunted house attraction or anything of the sort!
Wow I so cannot believe he pulled that together in less than a day!!! :O That takes some serious costuming talent.

    1. LOL...I know right?? Isn't the name just too hilarious?? :D I don't really wear a lot of true blues (I'm always gravitating towards blue-greens), but I enjoyed this one a lot. Aww, thanks, my boys are pretty darn GORGEOUS if I do say so myself. <3 We do have the best time at my sister's house on Halloween...only it was SO humid that night...would you believe it was 81 degrees that day?? That's the spookiest part of it all! :D

  5. From the illegal amount of flooding *giggle* to the chains, back up to the SC converts that we've both become, I adore this post ♥♥ And yes, this particular shade is impossible to photograph accurately and indeed, this one photos differently in every shot I've seen. The green just doesn't want to come out to play. It's... criminal :D :D :D
Your Halloween photos are awesome, I so want to come over and celebrate with you all! You and your sis look awesome and your bro-in-law looks SOOOOO CREEEEPY!!! lol. You all are so clever! Monsta P and the surrounding decor look marvelous, I can't even describe. Your show business prowess certainly is evident. Last, but not least, your furbabies look ADORABLE.

    1. :D:D:D Now your comment had me cracking up..."It's...criminal." Do you ever find yourself laughing as you type up your posts? That's what happened here...it was obviously too much Halloween candy in my system. :P Hey, COME ON DOWN to Georgia and meet the Monster Plantation in person!! It's the best ever Halloween house. :) When nobody has any kids, you can have a whole closet dedicated to your costumes and wigs.:P Yes, we're all in our 40's...

  6. Oh man, this post is so full of awesome stuff! I wish my Walmarts would get the new Sinful Colors already, I am an addict too! I want to go to the Monster Plantation, all those costumes and decorations are spooktacular and I can see it was tons of fun! Your puppies are adorable, Nicolo seems unimpressed, lol <3

    1. Ahhh, thanks, Yadi! <3 You know something, my Wal-Mart doesn't have the new ones in either. I travel to South Carolina once a month, and I actually found the gigantic display containing the new colors at the Wal-Mart there. I don't know why WM picks and chooses who gets what? My Wal-Mart didn't get the new fall Salon Perfects either, but a nearby small town's WM did. Go figure! Oh, thanks for the Halloween love...we did have a ball! And I can't tell you HOW freaky Penny is. And my crazy puppies...it only took me about 503 tries to get a shot of Angelo sitting down, and poor Nicky was just upset that I put that thing on his head. :P

  7. LOL, beautiful blue polish! Loved the Halloween pics. I am terrified of haunted houses so your photos gave me the creeps. I had to go back and look at the cute puppy pictures to get those images out of my head:) I went to a haunted house when I was a teenager and I was sooooooo scared that I have never stepped foot in one again. I seriously thought I was going to have a heart attack. And just when I thought I was outside and in the clear, some freaky guy started up a chainsaw and chased me!!! I ran straight for the car and never looked back. Eeek.

    1. LOL...yes, the ever-present dude with the chainsaw. :P It's like, when you run out of ideas, hey, throw in a guy with a chainsaw!! I'm sorry you had such a traumatic experience. :( I promise we wouldn't scare you. :D

    2. I'm not sure about that - my daughter walking around the corner when I don't expect it scares me....every. time. :( I am jumpy for some reason.

    3. I hear ya, Essie - I hate being scared! And although I'm not jumpy like that, my roommate sure is! I have taken to announcing where I'm going (literally) because not only is she jumpy, she's also kinda hard of hearing. :P

    4. Yes, I wish people wouldn't just sneak around all the time. They do that at work too. I need to just expect someone to walk around every corner. It's especially bad when I am walking with a cup of coffee in my hands!

  8. Those pictures are fantastic Melissa! You have quite that with makeup as well! I love Royal Blue polishes, any staining?

    1. Thank you! <3 This stained a little bit, but then I put on some Lemony Flutter and ran remover over my fingers again, and every bit came off. :D
