Happy Birthday to Me: Different Dimension Orion Nebula

Hey everybody!  Yes, it's my birthday.  January 14 is the worst possible day of the year to have a birthday when you work in the field of accounting.  But I'll cut Mom some slack because she couldn't possibly have known this fact back when I was born. :)

There's just nothing like buying yourself a birthday present off your own wish list.  I believe I am the only person in my family who is aware that I have a wish list.  It's kind of along the lines of when I turned 30 and decided to throw myself a party to lament my lost youth...it had never occurred to anybody in my family to have a birthday party, and so after that first one, a grand tradition of my family actually throwing birthday parties began.  So the moral of the story is when nobody else does it for you, do it for yourself! :D

I have wanted Orion Nebula by Different Dimension since first I laid eyes on it, so I bought this little gem for myself!

Can't you see why??  Can't you??

Look at that.  Just LOOK at that.  Hot pink in a black jelly, and ALL the glitter is circle...and some are even holographic! <3  Sure, I had to fish a bit for the big pieces...but when I had the finished product, all I could do was stare.  I guess you could say the POLISH did the fishing...because it got me hook, line and sinker. :D

I layered Orion Nebula over black because the black jelly base is quite sheer.  The photos show two coats.  There was plenty of smaller glitter with each dip of the brush...it was only the very large pieces that took a little more effort. :)

Want to guess why I adore this polish?  Is it because it's a jelly?  Because it's loaded in fabulous circle glitter? Because black and hot pink are, like, totally 80's??  None of the above.  I love this polish because it looks like a lava lamp.  I can just hear it...blub...blub...blub...

I got my Orion Nebula (and some other lovely Different Dimension goodies!) on Etsy.

Thanks for spending time with me on my birthday...I did my partying on Saturday, so I'm probably just going spend time with my puppies tonight.  And paint my nails. :)

Have a lovely day! <3

    1. I'm glad you agree with the lava lamp association...I can just see huge bottles of this polish in the decor of some trendy restaurant. :D Thanks, my birthday with my babies was nice. :)

  3. I hope you enjoyed your Birthday a lot!!! Well what a question with those nails! Having guests would only distract from ogling!!! How wonderful that you introduced the idea of a party! For me and my friends Birthdays are very imporant, we always do a dinner and gifts for each of us in turn. That polish keeps me hostage I have to admit - and guess what, it sits on my wishlist still. I experienced the same with my Different Dimension jellies - they need a foundation ;-) and Lava Lamp - I am knocking over here :-D

    1. LOLOL...so birthday party guest might be in danger of some sort of distraction negligence had I worn this polish?? :P I like making a big thing of birthdays...it's everybody's chance to feel special. AND I believe everybody needs a birthday cake. That way, I can have the bakery write something hilarious on it. :D So this is on your wishlist?? I want to see your wishlist! I cannot imagine anything being ON it because you are always buying all the newest wonders! :)

  5. LOL, Yes....I can see why :) It's awesome. I haven't worn a polish like this since I was blogging. I think I stay away because I know there will be a little extra work to apply it, but it really is fun once everything is in place! This is a perfect birthday polish for you. Happy Birthday girly:) Good for you for throwing yourself a party. I HATE being the center of attention so I have actually told my husband I would be mad at him if he ever threw me a party. And who wants to make their wife mad on their birthday??? Have a great day!

    1. I agree...it is extra work, and I have to be in the right mindset to do it. But I WAS! :D Ahhh thanks, I had a good one, even if most of my conscious time was spent at work. :/

  6. Happy birthday Melissa, I see why you treated yourself to this polish... IT IS GORGEOUS! I would have never guessed it looked like a lava lamp until I read it, and now it's all I see! LOL! I really like the idea of making things happen for yourself when no one does it for you, I'm thinking a sweet 36 is in order for me next year! :)

    1. There you go!! You will truly love a party you throw yourself. And everybody else will too! :) I'm so glad you like this polish...in the past when I saw photos of it, I pretty much stopped thinking, or breathing, and just stared in disbelief. :D

  8. Happy birffffday!!! (Again... How I got three posts behind on you is beyond me:/ ). Yes, self bday gifts are among the best. I have mixed feelings towards the whole bday party thing in general. I'm happy to throw one and happy to show up to them but I feel this need to be totally in control of my own (mostly because if I plan it myself I won't be disappointed, how saaaad is that?!). I pick the restaurant and I invite people, or not. I wanted nothing for my 30th but to go out with C and that's what we did. I think maybe I don't like having things done for me, unless it's by C. Or maybe no one's ever attempted to throw me a party so I just dictate my bday every year because I don't know any other way, lol.
    But enough about me. -_-
This polish looks RULLLLLLY cool, I do like big circle glitters and they are worth the effort to get outta the bottle :) Writing down your bday date for future use :D

    1. Maybe this year C will hijack your birthday plans and everything will be all spontaneous!! Mind you, THAT scenario is nightmarish to the control freak in ME, and so it probably would be with you too. :D

Circle glitter is the Eighth Wonder of the World.
