Boys and Girls Are Different: China Glaze Bend Over Backwards

Hey everybody!  I think I should explain my post title. :)

My husband and I went shopping on Memorial Day after our family cookout.  I went with him to Dick's Sporting Goods...he went with me to Ulta.  I decided to do a little experiment.  I asked my hubs if he would pick me out a polish, one polish out of the entire store, something he would like to see on me.  Now, my husband is a manly man, the outdoorsman type who could survive on a desert island indefinitely with a baseball bat and a piece of dental floss.  But to my surprise, he very pleasantly agreed to my request!   He meticulously narrowed his choices down to 2 and ultimately chose China Glaze Bend Over Backwards.

China Glaze Bend Over Backwards

China Glaze Bend Over Backwards is a fiery, and I mean FIERY, orange-red.   Or red-orange.  It's actually equally orange and red.  You've heard before that this or that polish "glows"...well, this one does.  It looks like it's burning from within.  Bend Over Backwards is from the Cirque Du Soleil Collection.  I used 2 coats for the photos.  I had a couple of bubbling issues on the first coat, but they seemed to even out on the second.

All my crafty suggestive selling didn't have one bit of effect.  As we meandered around the store,  I enticingly held up blues, greens, and aquas.  Each one was met with a resounding, "No."  I suspected my hubs would be drawn to the reddish colors, and I was right.

But there is no denying...this is a stunning polish.  It's just not anything that would appeal to me a whole lot when I first looked at it.  I find that the most drool-inducing colors are always the teals with me.  But I've noticed that my husband doesn't so much like those.  Well, pooh. :)  Oh, and don't even mention cremes to him.  That boy likes shimmer!  Well, that's more like it!!

Hmmmm...I think I could get used to this?  Maybe?

Curious about the runner-up?  It was OPI Danke-Shiny Red.

I heartily recommend trying this experiment on your own husband or boyfriend.  But I'll tell you right now, you will NOT be taking home butter LONDON Slapper.

You know how they say that men are from Mars, and women are from Venus?

You just can't make this stuff up.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a lovely evening! :)

  5. LOL My hubs is the same way... A typical man has been trained to love red nails; while us ladies see it as a bit dated they see it as classic. My man chose WnW Behind Closed Doors; he admitted that he liked the red glitter shining thru the black base. Did you pick him out something from Dick's??? LOL

  8. LOL! What a fun story. I need to do this with my husband...I just have to get him into Ulta somehow???? And yes, I was very curious about the runner up:) Did you let your husband look at the prices? Chris wouldn't pick the Butter Londons because of the price alone!

    1. You absolutely need to do this! My hubs did know the prices. And since the China Glaze was a WHOLE $1.50 less than the OPI, it won out! :)

  9. This was a great post, I really want to try this with my husband. I know for a fact that he loves the reds whereas I love anything blue or green. It's funny how that works isn't it?

  10. Too funny! My husband always picks bright and/or blingy reds too! He will go into Ulta with me, but he just walks beside me holding the bag.

  11. Hehe you're right. My hubby likes to see "girly" colors on me - reds and pinks are his favorite. If I show him a green or blue (my favs), he's more like "meh". :D
Love this color on you, by the way! Fiery is right!
